These are some of the examples of my work with club interior concepts, of wich most are created together with Mikel Nilsson. For photos of many different club decorations I would like to refer to my Flickr sets.
Me and Mikel Nilsson worked together last year with the concept for clothing company Uniforms for the Dedicated for spring/summer collection 2011 titled Dummy Plant 1A which is now in stores all over the world. Photos by Kalle Gustafsson.
The client requested me to create a Japan inspired room for a lounge event preceeding a buto performance at the Pustervik Theater. I used a water jet to cut out my designs for a set of room dividers and tables placed with a square red carpet in from of a lecture scene. The pictures here are taken before the actual event have taken place.
Summer of 2010, Mikel Nilsson and I designed the showroom for Uniforms for the Dedicated at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The showroom previewed elements from our design for their upcoming spring/summer collection 2011.
As the Pecha Kucha 20th Aniversary in Gothenburg coincided with the Swedish National Holliday on June 6th, I created a new suggestion for the profiling of modern Swedens multicultural society. As Swedes in general avoid waving or presenting our flag even on this day, fearing being seen as a nationalist or simply not caring, I wanted to provoke thoughts about how strong of a symbol a flag can be and what it actually means to belong to a nationality. The importance of this action is the context of our own national holiday, while creating all other countries flags but with the exact yellow and blue colours that Sweden flag has, and at the same time not presenting our own. I created hand-held fabric flags for the visitors to wave around, as well as strung up flags decorating the ceilings.
Together with Glory Crew, Mikel Nilsson and Per Bäckström, we created a concept for the club VVWT, that came to feature a DJ space ship. In a cloud of smoke and lasers, it took off towards the ceiling alltogether with DJs and equipment. The massive construction was built on top of a hydralic lift as a base, using metal, plexi glass, wood etc.
Together with Mikel Nilsson we worked together with the graphic redesign as well as a monthly Interior Night at techno club The Eye The interior conceps were based on a theme which often invaulved interactive accessoars for the attending crowds.
Me and Mikel Nilsson teamed up with DJs Andreas Ahlqvist and Rebwar Failli and created a club, Ha Det Kul, where we invited other design students to unleach their creativity for differently themed evenings at a Tiki bar.
Fresh Fish is an event and competition and exhibition for young unestablished designers. This interiors were made for the kick off party at Push, the most glamouros club in Gothenburg. Decorations ran throug all the walls creating an underwater adventure, including different masks for the fashion crowd.
A friend in Asahikawa were hosting a party for his graduation work, so created the interior designs for this event. A few very large flourocent lamps.
Among the clubs and events I have worked with are: The Eye, Colors, Fresh Fish, Vision Vision Warp Technician, Skoldisko, Tokyo Style in Gothenburg, Enfants, Fusion Festival in Germany and a most recently; a club in Asahikawa, Japan. This summer might await more oppurtunities like this, and I will start off working with the Pecha Kucha Göteborg aniversary the 6th of May.
